Pat McGrath’s latest client has a million followers on Instagram, a seemingly endless stream of revenue, and is completely plastic. Teaming up with Mattel, the venerable makeup artist who has worked with the likes of Kim Kardashian and Joan Smalls, is crafting a series of one-of-a-kind makeup looks for Barbie in honor of Paris Fashion Week. Exclusively appearing on Instagram, the first look debuted today, where McGrath hand-painted Barbie’s face with gold Swarovski crystals, winged eyeliner, and plum lipstick. The collaboration comes just one day after McGrath debuted her first standalone makeup product, the highly pigmented metallic powder, Gold 001. Three more looks are slated to run on the social-media app daily, with the final one appearing October 5, around the same time Barbie’s grand European fashion-month trip comes to a close. Some women have all the luck.
