Hoping for Gucci Markdowns? You’re Out of Luck

If you have your eye on those statement-making Gucci fur loafers, act now. The house’s CEO, Marco Bizzarri, tells Business of Fashion that the designer’s first two collections for the house — his men’s and women’s outings for fall 2015 — will not get marked down. Bizzarri explained that he wants to preserve the image of the brand and to give Michele’s vision time to sink in: “I wanted to give the collection of Alessandro the longest-possible time at full price in the shop. It’s so new for our company; so new for him.”

Luckily, it sounds like Michele’s maximalist wares are selling like whatever the Italian equivalent of hotcakes is: “The full-price sell-through is super high, so even if I put them on sale now, the impact on sales would be tiny,” the CEO added. As for the cruise collection that is starting to hit stores now, that remains to be seen.
