What pops to mind when someone mentions tantric sex? Intimate marathon lovemaking? Sting? Now you can add Patricia Clarkson to the list. In her film Learning to Drive, the actress engages in a sex scene featuring the tantric arts. “Yes, and I can’t wait to do it in real life!” she declared when the Cut brought it up last night at a cocktail party for the film hosted by the Cinema Society. Naturally, we pressed her for details about filming the scene and her partner. “Well, Matt Salinger, an accomplished actor, showed up and knew everything and anything about tantric sex,” Clarkson said. “Consummate actor, consummate professional. He was gorgeous. I can’t think of a better person to have tantric sex with.”
It seems Clarkson’s got no bones about showing a little skin. She also went sans shirt earlier this year, in the Broadway revival of The Elephant Man. Is nakedness the trend of her 2015? “Yes, it’s a lot of toplessness. And I’m in a plunging jumpsuit right now. What am I doing?” she laughed. Of course, it’s always affirming to see an older actress who’s so assured of herself, both in and out of her clothes. Clarkson agreed, noting, “I’m here. And I’m still sexual, and alive. And that’s what I do. That’s who I am. That’s me.”
