When Ricky Gervais took over the GG hosting gig again this year, he opened with some (expected) offensive jokes. And he featured a series of his prepared remarks at Caitlyn Jenner. Jenner has responded to Gervais’s comments, saying she’d like to host the Globes, reported Entertainment Weekly.

In his monologue, Gervais discussed the work Jenner’s leadership in making progress for the transgender community,  but he made a few quips to follow:

“I’ve changed. Not as much as Bruce Jenner, obviously. Now Caitlyn Jenner, of course. What a year she’s had. She became a role model for trans people everywhere, showing great bravery in breaking down barriers and destroying stereotypes… She didn’t do a lot for women drivers. But you can’t have everything, can you? Not at the same time.”

At the Television Critics Tour in Pasadena, Jenner responded to Gervais’s jab with a solution: She’ll host the 2017 Golden Globes. “On Ricky, what I’m gonna do is see if they need a host for next year,” she said. “And we’ll solve that problem.”

No matter who takes on the job of the booze-y awards shindig next year, Gervais won’t retract this year’s comments. He responded to critics on Twitter, saying he’s not planning to apologize. In one tweet, he compared making a joke about Jenner to one aimed at Bill Cosby.

But Jenner’s suggestion does make me think — it definitely couldn’t hurt for us to see another woman take the stage come time for the Golden Globes monologue next year.
