Listen, Mommy loves you. Mommy loves her little boy. Okay? Mommy loves your sweet pinch-y cheeks. Mommy loves your “punk’s not dead” shirt. Mommy loves her baby’s whole big baby boy body. That, and your ever-increasing need for independence, is why Mommy had to knit you out of yarn. Okay, baby? Mommy’s baby boy?

Marieke Voorsluijs, dedicated mother and a designer for Amsterdam knitting shop Club Geluk, wrote for Bored Panda, in a post titled “My Son Doesn’t Want To Cuddle Anymore So I Knit A Cuddly Version Of Him,” about what drove her to knit a terrifying life-size version of her son out of yarn:

“We used to cuddle all the time, but those days are becoming scarce. We laugh a lot about the stretching gap between his needs and mine. Him needing more of his own space and my covert needs to keep on smothering him with maternal love. I am a textiles designer and he often helps me and has great creative ideas. So we started to fantasize how we could visualize this puberty gap. So I suggested to make a cuddly version of him!”

MOMMY! However, more bizarrely, according to Mashable the yarn-son is not stuffed and is more of a human yarn suit than it is a human yarn stuffed animal. Huh. So she can still only cuddle with her son when he’s wearing the yarn suit.

Seems to me like she just wanted to cuddle with a body covered in yarn. Or maybe that she wishes humans were made of yarn? Or she just wishes one human were made of yarn, specifically her son.

Moms, man. They love their babies, and some of them sure love yarn.
