Jessica Williams Has a Message for All of Beyoncé’s Critics

The Daily Show’s Jessica Williams best summed up the magic of Beyoncé and the “Formation” video last night, when she described Queen Bey as a  “beautiful black Dumbledore, except with a really nice weave, in $3,000 worth of Gucci.”

Who could take offense to that?

Someone always can — even when it comes to Beyoncé. After her Super Bowl performance of “Formation,” which included Black Panther references and a whole lot of black pride, some (Fox News) conservatives (Rudy Giuliani) were like, “Ugh, why are we still talking about race?”

While most are way too exhausted to have this discussion, Williams mustered up some energy to deliver the perfect explanation on last night’s Daily Show. She said, “Race was brought in because Beyoncé was brought in, and brace yourself, you might want to sit down for this, but Beyoncé is … black! And as a black person, you walk around every day constantly reminded that you are black. We’re more likely to get paid less, more likely to get sent to prison, and more likely to win a dance competition. What? It’s not all bad.”

Watch the video above, and send it to anyone who dares speak an ill word against Queen Bey.
