The trailer for the Nina Simone biopic, Nina, was released Wednesday following controversy over the casting choice for the film. And on the same day, Zoe Saldana, who portrays Simone in the film, sent out a tweet featuring a Simone quote. And she was immediately shut down by those who run Simone’s official account.
Simone’s own daughter has come out in response to the film and suggested other actresses who she thinks would be a better fit for the part of her mother. And in what appears to be continued controversy, here is a short version of the story, via Twitter:
