When Florida governor Rick Scott wanted coffee on Tuesday, he walked into the wrong Gainesville Starbucks. A video uploaded to YouTube shows a woman ripping into the governor for cutting Medicaid and signing a bill to defund Planned Parenthood.
The clip begins with the woman, who later identified herself as Cara Jennings, telling Scott that his cuts meant she couldn’t get Obamacare. “You’re an asshole. You don’t care about working people. You should be ashamed to show your face around here.”
He responded by saying he’s created a million jobs. As he starts to walk away from the counter, Jennings goes harder. “You stripped women of access to public health care. Shame on you, Rick Scott. We depend on those services. Rich people like you don’t know what to do. When poorer people like us need services you cut them. Shame on you Rick Scott! You’re an embarrassment to our state!”
She told ABC Action News that she was working in the coffee shop when she saw the governor walk in with his entourage. “I didn’t think about whether I should do it or not,” she said. “I thought, ‘Here’s my chance to tell the governor how I feel about the horrible bill.’”
Governor Scott left Starbucks without his latte.
