Daniel Radcliffe, better known as boy wizard Harry Potter (pronounced Arry Pottah), recently learned about the gender pay gap in Hollywood, and it seems as if he’s been having a hard time unpacking it all.

In an interview with the Australian Daily Telegraph, he reveals he had no idea that there even was a gender pay gap in Hollywood until Jennifer Lawrence spoke up about how much less she made than her male co-stars in American Hustle.

And thank god she did, for Radcliffe’s sake. “I’m incredibly glad it (gender equality) has come up because I had just f**king naively thought this was not an issue any more because how can this still be happening?”

Although that was months ago, he’s still not over his initial surprise, saying “it’s nuts to me,” “it’s crazy,” and “shocking.” Oh, what a cruel, unforgiving world, going out of its way to hide the gender pay gap from Daniel Radcliffe.

But no more! Now that Radcliffe knows that there’s a wage gap, he doesn’t want to stop talking about it. (Accio Wokebaeness!) And he has opinions on how to close it, once and for all.

“It is definitely the time for our industry to step up,” he offered as a plan. “Especially if we want to pride ourselves on being a liberal, progressive industry then you can’t be doing that. I feel like there’s such a wealth of amazing actresses in the world right now and we’ve got to start writing better parts for them and paying them equally.”

Still, he wasn’t able to shake the idea that someone sinister is behind it all. “The thing I can’t help but think is: ‘Who? Who’s doing that? What guy is sitting in a studio somewhere thinking, ‘Let’s fuck the girls out of some money?’”

Voldemort, Daniel. It’s Voldemort.
