How Late Should a Woman Work? Ask the Pay-Gap Clock

First, there was the gender-pay gap. Then, there was the gender-pay gap, broken down by industry. Then, there was the celebration of Equal Pay Day, and how we advised men to party. And of course — the gender-pay gap on cakes. What’s next, women? The pay-gap closing?

Please, do not be so foolish. Instead, we’ve got a new development from MTV’s Look Different and PARTY NY: an alarm clock that tells women when they should stop working for the day, based on how much less they’re making than a man doing their job. Let’s say your hours are generally 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. According to this handy little guy, as a woman, you should feel free to shove off from the office around 3:20 p.m. As a black woman, take off around 1:48 p.m., and as a Latina or Hispanic woman, you can get out of work at 1:24 p.m. After all — that’s the time you’re getting paid for, right?

Do you work outside of those hours? Check when you should clock out with the 79 percent calculator.
