To prime excitement for their new tenures at fashion houses, some designers have taken to releasing “first looks” at the revamped vision for the house that don’t necessarily involve clothes. Case in point: Jonathan Anderson, who revealed a new logo and packaging for Loewe when he began at the brand two years ago.
Anthony Vaccarello was announced as the new designer of Saint Laurent, replacing Hedi Slimane, in April, but we’re only now getting a glimpse at his vision for the brand. It’s expressed in a black-and-white image of a female model lying on the shirtless torso of a male model, whose head is obscured.
Per a release from Saint Laurent, it’s the first of a series of “fifteen new faces,” photographed in Paris by Collier Schorr, that form the first campaign imagery under Vaccarello. (During Slimane’s tenure, he pulled a Karl Lagerfeld and photographed all of the campaigns himself.)
