Jennifer Aniston, a woman who is fine, fine, fine, no — it’s fine, authored a blog for the Huffington Post today. Celebrities are still doing that! This one is actually pretty good, however. In it, Jen addresses the perpetual rumors that she is pregnant and hiding it from us. “For the record, I am not pregnant,” she writes. “What I am is fed up.” A good line.
Jen continues: “This past month in particular has illuminated for me how much we define a woman’s value based on her marital and maternal status. The sheer amount of resources being spent right now by press trying to simply uncover whether or not I am pregnant (for the bajillionth time… but who’s counting) points to the perpetuation of this notion that women are somehow incomplete, unsuccessful, or unhappy if they’re not married with children.”
Then she reveals, “Yes, I may become a mother some day, and since I’m laying it all out there, if I ever do, I will be the first to let you know.” This is a promise Jen has made to us before. In an interview with InStyle last year, she said, “When I’m pregnant and married, I will let you know. Not a tabloid publication. Not Bulls—t Times or Crapass Bulls—t Times Weekly. They will not be telling you.”
She means it.
