The reclusive Rei Kawakubo may become a household name if Women’s Wear Daily’s report today is confirmed. According to the paper, the bigwigs at the Met Costume Institute are mulling a show devoted to the perpetually avant-garde Comme des Garçons designer, a move that would mark its second exhibit devoted to a living designer (the first being the Diana Vreeland–curated Yves Saint Laurent retrospective in 1983.)

The item says that the planned exhibit would “rival the scale” of even “Savage Beauty,” the museum’s 2011 Alexander McQueen blockbuster. We’ve reached out to a spokesperson at the Met for a comment, and will update this when we hear back.
