After a week of speculation, and one top-notch Twitter prank, Billy Bush is officially out of a job with NBC. Earlier in October, Bush made headlines when a recording emerged from 2005 of the then–Access Hollywood host laughing and encouraging Donald Trump’s lewd, disparaging comments about women. Bush had been a host on NBC’s Today since last August, but was suspended last Sunday, two days after the story broke.

“Billy Bush will be leaving the Today show’s 9 a.m. hour, effective today,” said a statement sent out to NBC staff on Monday. “While he was a new member of the Today team, he was a valued colleague and longtime member of the broader NBC family. We wish him success as he goes forward.”

Bush also released a statement about the decision: “I am deeply grateful for the conversations I’ve had with my daughters, and for all of the support from family, friends and colleagues. I look forward to what lies ahead.”
