Donald Trump Caught on Tape Bragging About Groping Women and Saying He Can ‘Do Anything’ to Them

Donald Trump’s gross behavior toward women is so well documented at this point that it’s hard to keep track of all the sexist things he’s said and done. But on Thursday the Washington Post gave us another batch of nauseating comments to add to the list. The paper obtained a recording, reportedly taken in 2005, of a conversation between Trump and Access Hollywood’s Billy Bush. The recording was taken as Trump arrived on set to film a cameo in Days of Our Lives; in it, Trump brags to Bush about his infidelities and says he gets away with groping women because he’s a “star.”

“I moved on her and I failed. I’ll admit it,” he says, discussing his attempt to seduce a married woman. (At the time, Trump was a few months into his marriage with his third wife, Melania.) “I did try and fuck her. She was married.” He went on:

“I moved on her like a bitch, but I couldn’t get there. And she was married,” Trump says. “Then all of a sudden I see her, she’s now got the big phony tits and everything. She’s totally changed her look.”

They’re then distracted by Arianne Zucker, the actress whose job it is to escort them to the set. “Whoa, whoa!” Trump says, while Bush declares, “Yes, the Donald has scored!”

“I’ve gotta use some tic tacs, just in case I start kissing her,” Trump says.“You know I’m automatically attracted to beautiful – I just start kissing them. It’s like a magnet. Just kiss. I don’t even wait.”

“And when you’re a star they let you do it,” Trump says. “You can do anything. Grab them by the p—y. You can do anything.”

The Post gave Trump the chance to comment on the tape, and his response was: “This was locker room banter, a private conversation that took place many years ago. Bill Clinton has said far worse to me on the golf course — not even close, I apologize if anyone was offended.”

Trump’s comments on the tape are reminiscent of the account given by Jill Harth, a makeup artist who worked with Trump in the early 1990s and accused him of sexually assaulting her. According to Harth’s deposition, Trump “groped [her] under the table” at a dinner with pageant contestants. Later, Harth told the Guardian, “He pushed me up against the wall, and had his hands all over me and tried to get up my dress again. I had to physically say: ‘What are you doing? Stop it.’”

Ivanka Trump famously defended her father against Harth’s claims, insisting, “He’s not a groper. It’s not who he is. I’ve known my father obviously my whole life, and he has total respect for women.”
