This Pharmacy Is Making Men Pay More to Compensate for the Gender Wage Gap

With all the pussy-grabbing and tampon-taxing women have had to deal with, a New York City pharmacy has decided to give us a break and allow us to shop tax-free – while men fork over a 7 percent sales tax.

Thompson Chemists, a pharmacy in Soho, put up signs today on its front windows, saying that female customers can shop free while male shoppers are subjected to a “man tax.” The shop’s owner Jolie Alony told the Daily Dot that she thought it would be a great idea “with all the political things going on — with Clinton being such a woman and the other guy and his womanizing.”

“We wanted to share that women deserve to get a break, and men deserve to be charged 7 percent more. Women are spending more in general and we make less, so we deserve to have a break,” she said. Since the signs went up, Alony has seen a few couples in the store who were entertained by the sign, while “other couples were a little upset about it, saying, ‘Fuck you,’ ‘You’re being a sexist,’ and to get a lawyer.”

Apparently, disclosing different prices or fees based on gender by a retailer is a violation of New York City pricing laws, so it’s unclear how long the promotion will last. In the meantime, I know where I’m buying my tampons.
