Saturday Night Live chose to begin its first post-election show not with a bang (or even with Alec Baldwin’s Donald Trump), but rather simply with Kate McKinnon’s Hillary Clinton poignantly singing the late Leonard Cohen’s beloved tune “Hallelujah.” Sometimes all we need in these difficult times is a nice voice, a well-tuned piano, and some words of encouragement: “I’m not giving up, and neither should you.”
