Last month in Milan at Salone del Mobile, the world’s largest design show, Spanish luxury brand Loewe showcased an exhibition of basketry. Loewe approached 11 artists from around the world to bring their individual styles of basket-weaving to the project. But rather than use traditional mediums like bamboo, cane, straw, or rattan, Loewe challenged each artist to use leather.
Now, a month later, the Loewe Baskets collection is available online. The brand approached Spanish artisans to create bags, home goods, and accessories for the collection using techniques like traditional fishing knots. There are even reinterpretations of classic bag styles, like the Puzzle and Gate. Bag prices range from $1,400 to $3,990. See some of our favorites below, and shop the whole collection here.
