If you have been feeling a type of way toward Beyoncé because you weren’t invited to her show in Dubai or because she hasn’t released the visuals for Renaissance, I have some good news and some bad news for you. The good news is that five years after the Formation tour, the Renaissance tour will kick off this summer. The bad news is that the ticket situation already feels bleak.
The announcement came just days ahead of the Grammys, where Beyoncé has nine nominations, including Best Dance/Electronic Album for Renaissance, Record of the Year for “Break My Soul,” Best R&B Performance for “Virgo’s Groove,” and Best Traditional R&B Performance for “Plastic Off the Sofa.”
Even if you have a Beyoncé fund, you — and Ticketmaster — should probably prepare for a bloodbath when tickets are released to the general public. In Britain, presale began on Thursday, and those who did manage to purchase tickets reported prices ranging from £56 to £199, with VIP “onstage” seats at £1,950 to £2,390, according to the BBC. In the U.S., Citi and Capital One cardholders were able to buy resale tickets on Wednesday. Those prices ranged from around $400 well into the thousands. Personally, I have some questions for Beyoncé and her team at Parkwood.
