Donatella Versace to Attend White House Correspondents Dinner

Time magazine is determined to have the coolest, most conspicuous, and possibly most awkward table at the White House Correspondents Dinner later this month. How else to explain why they invited Donatella Versace? Well, aside from the fact that she’s the most recent “10 Questions” subject. The dinner takes place in Washington, D.C., where boxy suits in non-reflective fabrics are the garb of choice. Perhaps she’s practicing the whole political thing since her brother, Santo, is running for Italian Parliament. Or maybe she figured the dinner wouldn’t be too dull since her pal Rupert Everett will be at the Time table too. They’re technically the dinner companions of Time’s Style and Design editor Kate Betts and managing editor Rick Stengal, but we envision them sitting next to each other sharing snotty asides and laughing at outfits behind a linen napkin.

Versace hasn’t revealed if she’ll dress her hosts, but considering the other guests include Colin Firth and his wife, Livia, Jamie Hector, Isiah Whitlock Jr., and Sonja Sohn from HBO’s The Wire, it ain’t a bad idea (yeah, we’re dreading all the “so-and-so goes to Washington” jokes, too). But Versace’s presence will finally shine light on some of the world’s most burning questions: Does Donatella find Stephen Colbert funny? Will she restrain herself from wearing fuchsia and — dare we suggest it? — perhaps actually tone down her look? Can the fabulous hang in Washington? All this and more will be answered on April 26. Christmas in April, y’all.
