LL Cool J’s New Juniors’ Line Is All About the Fit

You’re back from a sunny Memorial Day weekend, and thunderstorms are about to slap you in your newly tanned face. But there’s exciting news on this dark and dreary day: LL Cool J is designing a juniors’ line for Sears that’s debuting in September. Yes, a juniors’ line. We never really pictured him as a clothing designer, much less for the teen and tween set. He told WWD:

My main concern with juniors is to make sure the fit is right.… I know that if she comes in, puts it on and it doesn’t fit, she won’t come back. Clothes have to make a woman feel good, relaxed and sexy. We are going to be constantly looking at fine-tuning the fit and we’ll get it right.

Really, LL? We recall from rocking out to “Control Myself,” featuring Jennifer Lopez (no shame here at the Cut), that you have very different ideas about women’s clothes. Let’s revisit those lyrics:

This girl began to tempt me (Uh-huh!)

She said her name Shayeeda

I could tell her mama feed her (Yeah!)

When they tight and thick them jeans don’t fit

I’m L, nice to meet ya (Uh-oh!)

So, can you take the rapper out of the clothing designer? Guess we’ll have to wait for the line to debut in September to find out. The suspense is killing us, too.
