Last week we reported that Vogue offered a rather pitiful introduction to model Arlenis Sosa. Since being signed in March, the 19-year-old has been photographed by Mario Testino and Steven Meisel for magazines like American and Italian Vogue. Oscar de la Renta even insisted on dressing the Dominican beauty for the Met gala. So new to the game, she doesn’t speak much English yet. You’ll recall when Vogue interviewed her about “our colorless catwalks,” they didn’t even hire a translator. But Models.com interviewed Arlenis on video, and they sprang for that middleman. In it, Arlenis says she has always been focused on school, and when she was spotted, she had never even picked up a fashion magazine. Watch and you’ll see she’s quite well spoken after all, unlike Vogue would lead you to believe.
