Yes, that is Karl Lagerfeld you’re staring at, and yes, he is wearing a yellow reflector vest over his usual uniform. This priceless image, dear friends, is Karl’s way of asking the people of France to be conscious of road safety. Isn’t that nice of him? He cares! The image is from France’s road-safety awareness campaign, and starting July 1 the yellow vest and a reflective triangle will be mandatory for all drivers and cyclists in France. The French slogan on the ad translates to “It’s yellow, it’s ugly, it doesn’t match anything, but it can save your life.”
This is just amazing. We can’t wait for the day when either (a) Karl pops out of a car at an event wearing his new yellow vest or (b) we’re driving through the French countryside and see this image of Karl on a giant billboard. It might startle us enough to send us off the road.
