Each year the highlight of Vanity Fair’s September issue is its International Best Dressed list, and we have an advance copy of the full rankings! This year’s edition has the requisite socialites (Ivanka Trump), token Lauder family member (Evelyn), megacelebs (Brangelina), and political figures (Michelle Obama, the “commander in sheath,” who we are informed is “on leave” from her duties as V.P. at University of Chicago Hospitals — as if we didn’t know). It’s also got a few surprises, like Sarah Jessica Parker, who makes the list for the first time, and David Beckham, who seems less Vanity Fair and more Life & Style these days now that he’s shilling Sharpies (his wife, Victoria, was left off the list). Cover girl Carla Bruni also makes her debut on the list, and Karl Lagerfeld earns a nod in the “Fashion Originals” category (rather than the “Fashion Professionals” category — the difference in taxonomy is paramount).
