After winning V magazine’s model search earlier this year, Canadian Amanda Laine is becoming a runway must-have. In her first New York Fashion Week, Laine opened for both Vera Wang and Rebecca Taylor. Meanwhile, Phi went with runway regular Magdalena Frackowiak to open and Vogue favorite Raquel Zimmermann to close. Zimmermann also ended the night by both opening and closing the Zac Posen show decked out in dramatic gowns and metallic makeup. And at Calvin Klein — New York’s most influential show for a model (we like to think of it as the Prada of New York) — Anna Selezneva made her first and only appearance in New York, even though she still doesn’t have New York representation. But fresh face Anya Kazakova stole the show at Calvin when she came bursting out the gate as girl No. 1 in a shapely and minimal white dress. And though it’s strange that she wasn’t a runway exclusive for the label like past openers Ali Stephens and Toni Garrn, the opening slot at Calvin signals big things for this one.
