Fug Girls Just Know That Nastia Liukin and Ryan Lochte Are in Love

Malin Akerman’s PR person is either doing an amazing job, or a terrible one. On the “amazing” side, Akerman’s gotten into a ton of shows this season. On the “terrible” one, today at Max Azria we were asked not once, but a total of five times who she was, and whenever we said her name, the response was a look of questioning incomprehension. She certainly is pretty, and she seems well spoken and likable — get that girl a few magazine profiles, stat, so people don’t keep assuming that she’s some kind of mysterious, random socialite.

Eva Amurri — whom we overheard gushing to a reporter about how much she adored Chris Benz’s show last night — also didn’t get a ton of name recognition with the photogs. Although to be fair, we were only asked about her a couple of times, and when we explained that she sprang from the hallowed Sarandon loins, the light of recognition generally dawned. It helped that Amurri totally resembles her mother, and looked particularly pretty this evening.

Folks who presumably needed less introduction included Natasha Bedingfield (who seemed stoked to be there), Joy Bryant, Zoe Saldana, The Tinz, model Lou Dillion, and Michelle Trachtenberg, whom we heard telling someone the old chestnut about how you always ought to remove one accessory before you leave the house. She’s not wrong. We also spied the newest addition to Law & Order: SVU, Michaela McManus, whom — we cannot tell a lie — we immediately recognized from her stint on One Tree Hill as the girl that Chad Michael Murray thinks he’s all in love with until he realizes that he’s totally still into Peyton. We have problems.

But there were two guests who needed no introduction at all: Olympic gold medalists Nastia Liukin and Ryan Lochte. We have no basis in fact for this other than that they came in and sat together, but we’re pretty sure they’re dating and will probably get married and produce hundreds of preternaturally coordinated gymnast/swimmer babies. If we’re right, can we be godmothers?
