Perez Hilton reports Gossip Girl star Chace Crawford is likely to replace Patrick Dempsey as the face of Versace when Demsey’s contract ends in the spring of 2009. YES! This is the most fabulous idea we’ve heard since Topshop announced plans to open a giant palace-store in Soho, as Crawford’s stunning face and svelte figure have undoubtedly begged for giant billboards worldwide since he emerged from the womb. Now, Dempsey’s contract won’t expire for some months, so we might not get a definitive verdict on Chace in the near future, but here’s some evidence to support the rumor:
• Yesterday morning Versace sent out a press release about how Chace wore Versace to Fashion Rocks, the Video Music Awards, and Blake Lively’s 21st-birthday party.
• A Versace rep told Perez, “We have been working hard to develop our relationship with Chace — and that is all we can say on the subject. Patrick Dempsey is contracted with us through Spring/Summer 2009. It is undetermined who will replace him at this time.”
Yeah, right. Donatella wants to put his hot face on billboards and she knows it.
