Jonathan Rhys Meyers Lands Hugo Boss Campaign; L’Oréal Heir Invests $1 Billion in Photographer

FRAGRANCE
• Hugo Boss will launch Hugo Element in 2009, a marine-scented men’s fragrance targeted to a younger consumer. Actor Jonathan Rhys Meyers will star in the campaign — let’s hope with merman fins à la Zoolander. [Cosmetic News]

• Burger King branches into fragrance with their first limited-edition scent called Flame, a “seductive” body spray with a “hint of flame-broiled meat,” available at Ricky’s for $3.99. Just because your mother said the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach doesn’t mean you have to smell like a burger. [Ad Age]

MAKEUP
• Liliane Bettencourt, the daughter of L’Oréal’s founder and reportedly the wealthiest woman in France, gave more than $1 billion in investments to photographer François-Marie Banier. This prompted her daughter Françoise Bettencourt Meyers to file a complaint claiming Banier is exploiting her mother. [WWD]

PLASTIC SURGERY
W magazine explores the selfishness behind plastic surgery: “Patients are mad when they can’t get back to the office in five days,” one surgeon says. “But if you say they can’t have sex for two weeks, they are like, ‘Thank God, put it in writing!’ People have other agendas now.” Sigh. [Jezebel]

• In addition to smoothing wrinkles, Botox also rids skin of acne and oil. Because why use a cream when you can just inject yourself with stuff? [e-Beauty Daily]
