Late last year, Mayor Bloomberg floated the idea of taxing grocery shoppers five cents per plastic bag to help combat a projected $4 billion budget deficit. The mayor has officially proposed the tax, modified to include all plastic bags. This means your Club Monaco and H&M bags would cost you five whole cents apiece.
