Stop the presses! An excerpt of the young-adult novel someone ghostwrote for Lauren Conrad is out. Called L.A. Candy, the book is about a girl named Jane who moves to Hollywood and winds up starring in her own reality show. Jane finds filming a pain, since it is anything but real. For example, Jane has to film the scene of her arrival to work several times. And even though she’ll try to say “hi” to the receptionist at the usually accepted low decibel level, she knows she’ll just get a text message from the director in a minute asking her to say it louder in take two. Only two pages are out, but it’s shaping up to be a gripping real-life account of why Lauren hates The Hills so much. [Teen Vogue]
