Marios Schwab Won’t Bring His Namesake Line to New York Fashion Week

This week, Marios Schwab was announced as the new head designer of Halston. The label had been without a head designer for almost a year, only heightening anticipation for Schwab’s appointment. Schwab is, understandably, a little scared. “Of course I feel the pressure,” he tells British Vogue. “It’s a huge challenge but fashion at the moment needs innovation. I would be hesitant to do just one thing — it’s important to be able to create and be open-minded.”

Schwab’s show for his namesake line is one of the highlights of London Fashion Week. Though he’s moving to New York to take the Halston job, he says he plans to show the Marios Schwab collection in London. “I love the thought of having two fashion metropolises. London is amazing inspiration and New York is an interesting place to be — it’s important what comes out of them.” Oh, showing overseas sounds like a pain. Showing in New York would be much more convenient for him, even if it is only “interesting” to London’s “amazing.” At least our street system makes sense, for the most part.
