Like an ex-boyfriend who won’t leave you alone, Sarah Palin’s wardrobgate is back in the news. The Federal Election Commission has decided that the $150,000 the Republican National Committee spent on Sarah Palin’s presidential-campaign wardrobe is perfectly fine. A group in Washington complained about the purchases, arguing candidates can’t use donor money for personal expenses like clothes. But the FEC said candidates can use party money for personal expenses. The RNC told the FEC party money was spent on the clothes, and the FEC says they have “no information to the contrary.” Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, the group that filed the complaint, is displeased with this decision. They say the FEC is basically useless and never takes anyone on for anything. But CREW has no plans to complain further. They’re probably tired of it. But who isn’t? May as well handle it like a breakup: get drunk and move on.
