Stella McCartney to Do Kids’ Collection for Gap

Stella McCartney has signed on to do a one-off kids’ collection for Gap. The mother of three has already done a one-off adult collection for H&M. The Gap collection will launch later this year in select GapKids and babyGap stores in the U.S., Canada, the U.K., France, Ireland, and Japan. It will also be available online in the U.S. It almost (but not really) makes us want babies, just so we can dress them in the line, which should be absolutely adorable. But more important, it makes us excited about the Gap again. Signing McCartney is a genius move for the chain, which has been unable to lure shoppers into stores since before the downturn. On the heels of their winning spring collaboration with Alexander Wang and Vena Cava, which made us want to spend money on khaki things, they’re on a roll. The Gap! Now if they could sign a major designer to do a line that big people can fit into, that would be great.
