It’s the same old story we’ve heard over and over. Designer moves to the U.S. from Korea, goes to Parsons, opens her own store, closes said store, lands a gig designing for Calypso, and then relaunches her own collection. Okay, so perhaps Min Young Lee’s route to fashion glory was a bit roundabout, but her newly reborn line (it was revived spring 2008) combines the soft fabrics and embellishments of the old world with tailoring of the new. The end result is a boho-chic collection that works well for almost any aesthetic, which is why she’s been picked up in quite a few shops (Calypso, of course, plus Dolce Vita and Poppy), and is a featured designer on FadMashion. Lee, who just moved to L.A. as of last week (but swears her undying love to New York: “I will always be a New Yorker in my heart!”), has launched a lower-priced line with pal Richard Ruiz, though she doesn’t have other plans for collaborations just yet. (She’d love to do home design, though — hint hint.) We got a sneak peek at her spring 2010 line, which is a light mix of colors, fabrics, and ruffles, and makes for easy wearing. Check out the collection and see for yourself.
