Ever since last month’s Fifth Avenue–shaking news that Takashimaya will close at the end of June, we’ve been awaiting the inevitable deals that are sure to follow. (Now’s your chance to stock up on slashed-price jewelry and fancypants tea sets!) But when Madison Avenue Spy gave the store a once-over this weekend, she found a meager sale selection. What gives? According to a Takashimaya spokeswoman, the company is waiting on a certificate from the city before it launches its official “going out of business” sale. She expects it to arrive in the middle of next week — we’ll report how deep the discounts will run as soon as we hear more.
