Blackface Collection Wins Public Prize at Hyères Fashion Festival

Every year the town of Hyères in Southern France hosts a fashion and photography festival to showcase emerging talents. Stunning avant-garde things are routinely discovered at Hyères, one of the first events to recognize Viktor & Rolf. This year’s just wrapped and the winner of the prize voted on by the public was Tsolmandakh Munkhuu, a 33-year-old Paris-based Mongolian designer. She painted her models completely black for the show, and it looks like some had to stay that way for a while while she accepted her prize. But even if they sweated it would have been fine, since her collection was all-black. The grand prize of $20,000 went to 22-year-old fashion graduate Alexandra Verschueren.
