People StyleWatch and InStyle Big Ad-Page Winners for First Half of 2010

InStyle claims on their June cover, which you see here, that they know “what’s sexy now!” Whether you agree based on this cover of Salma Hayek, advertisers might say InStyle is “what’s sexy now!” along with People StyleWatch. The two titles were the most notable in terms of ad-page numbers for the first half of the year. InStyle was the fattest across women’s fashion titles, with 1,103 ad pages, while People StyleWatch landed the largest increase, up 60 percent, to 398 pages.

Most magazines did okay, really: Marie Claire’s pages went up 22 percent, to 584; Cosmopolitan’s were up 10 percent, to 702; Vogue’s increased 8 percent, to 987; Allure’s went up 7 percent, to 536; and Elle’s were up a modest 5 percent, to 939. Glamour saw no increase, faring much better than Town & Country, whose pages fell 4 percent, to 409. Much worse off was W, whose pages fell almost 14 percent, to a frail 423. Have fun with that, Stefano Tonchi.
