Fellow bloggers didn’t have the kindest things to say about Courtney Love’s personal-style blog, What Courtney Wore Today, which obsessively chronicles the messy singer’s awesome outfits. Even though Love said she launched the Tumblr in part to counteract bad press (“I was so embarrassed to go on Google and see myself look like a crazy person”), the Post reports today:
“‘Courtney Love has just become sort of a joke,’ says FashionIndie.com editor-in-chief Daniel Saynt. ‘Here you have someone whose daughter has literally disowned herself from Love, and Courtney’s more concerned about her outfits than getting her daughter back.’”
The Post also reports that the wardrobe on display is insured with a $10 million policy, and one of Love’s bloggers is 23-year-old Taylor Mason. The singer herself admits that the project is narcissistic: “I will say the navel-gazing aspect is probably there … It is kind of vain and stuff. I’m showing off my wardrobe, I mean, of course it is.” But fighting her critics through shameless nuttiness and generally appearing half-dressed, stumbling into the bathroom for a cigarette while stuffing a Givenchy dress into an American Apparel bag, well, isn’t that just what’s bold about Courtney Love? A surprisingly unabashed relationship with material things has long been part of this woman’s appeal, too. So maybe she’s not exactly turning over a new leaf with this thing, but we’d never want to see Courtney Love in boring outfits, anyway!
