Roberto Cavalli Serenaded by Heidi, Kylie, and Other Pretty People at His Anniversary Party

Things started out pretty quiet at the Roberto Cavalli 40th-anniversary party in Paris last night, when guests started to arrive around 9 p.m., promenading across the courtyard of the Ecole des Beaux Arts and gazing at the adjacent exhibition dedicated to the designer. Attendees ranged from Bryanboy (who told us that for his 40th birthday, he would “invite all my favorite designers and close friends on a private jet tour to a private island in the Philippines — maybe even on a Cavalli jet, with Cavalli vodka!”) and Olivier Zahm (who dreamed of “ten girls” for every friend he’d invite) to Rachel Bilson (“I would buy myself 40 pairs of shoes”) and Tyra Banks (“I would go to a spa, and then eat some fattening food, like barbecue ribs”), the latter just one of many big-name models (Naomi Campbell, Eva Herzigova, Karlie Kloss, Anja Rubik, Sasha Pivavorova, etc.) in attendance.

By 11 p.m., the scene had changed entirely: Music group Nouvelle Vague and an ensemble of burlesque dancers had warmed up the stage for Kylie Minogue, who, at Cavalli’s request, sang clubby hits instead of birthday hymns. “This is not what I had planned,” she told the crowd, before pitching the first notes of “Can’t Get You Out Of My Head.” Thankfully, Heidi Klum made up for it just after Minogue’s performance, leading the “Happy Birthday” choir of hundreds of voices to accompany a birthday cake that Cavalli himself could have easily jumped out of. Instead, he climbed onstage from where he had been sitting with Aishwarya Rei and Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, thanked everyone in attendance and especially his wife, Eva, and told the crowd to keep “loving femininity.” See a hazy clip from the Klum affair below.
