This afternoon, adorable Vena Cava designers Sophie Buhai and Lisa Mayock showed their spring 2011 collection at Milk Studios. Inspired by the Memphis design movement, the geometric patterns were evident in the clothing and jewelry — and hung right over the runway like mobiles. This season marks the label’s debut of Vena Cava shoes, though the seriously high wooden platforms are runway-only and won’t be produced to sell to the public. While the designers liken this collection to early-eighties Esprit (you know, that store you may have shopped at a lot back in the day), the shoes were inspired by orthopedic styles — an early sign in the season that comfort is in after all! And as for Buhai and Mayock’s fantastically received collection for Bloomingdale’s Aqua line? Watch the video to find out if they’ll do another one.
