Emma Watson and Alberta Ferretti Are Making a Jane Birkin–Inspired Organic Clothing Line Together

It’s true what they say: Young people do change, and Taylor Momsen is not the only case study that would prove it. Take Emma Watson’s relationship, as a celebrity, to designing clothing, which has changed as we’ve watched her grow up over the years. At first it was, “I’m really not interested in doing it for my own ego. I’m not a designer. If someone asked me to do something that was beneficial to a cause, then maybe I’d consider it.” Then she became the face of Burberry, and then she ended up launching her own clothing line for People Tree, which didn’t technically contradict what she had previously said about designing for a cause, since money from the line went to spreading the practice and joy of fair-trade farming. Now Watson is lending her design eye to a high-fashion designer by collaborating with Alberta Ferretti on a Jane Birkin–inspired organic clothing line, she tells Us Weekly. Watson, who declined to reveal the name of the line, said that Ferretti approached her about the project after her People Tree line came out.

“She wrote to me and said, ‘I saw what you did with People Tree and I think it’s a great idea and will you do something with me?’” Watson said.

…”I will put it out there that I will work for anyone for free if they are prepared to make their clothing fair trade organic,” Watson said.

See, it’s not about ego. It’s about saving the Earth! Love those Brown students.
