At Tuesday’s WWD @ 100 Anniversary Gala at Cipriani on 42nd Street, the Cut caught up with Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez of Proenza Schouler, who reminisced about their first mention in the publication. “Our first Women’s Wear Daily was we got a cover when we were still in school, our senior year, for our senior collection,” recalled McCollough. “It was a slow news day or something.” Added Hernandez, “We thought it was going to be a little blurb on the inside, and, like, the next day we go to the newspaper stand to pick it up, and it’s on the cover.” Where will they be at the ripe old age of 100? “Dead, hopefully,” said Hernandez.
