The Vogue Best Dressed Issue Names Kate Moss ‘Best Dressed of the Decade,’ to the Delight of the British Press

Vogue’s “Best Dressed” special issue, which hit newsstands yesterday, named Kate Moss “the best dressed of the decade,” although she was not featured in the magazine’s lineup of the top ten best dressed of the year. The magazine’s style director, Alexandra Kotur, justified Moss’s status thus: “At every moment, Kate Moss has looked chic and cool … No one has had more influence for the past decade on the way women have dressed.” The British press, naturally, are over the moon about this. “The magazine has named 11 of the world’s most sartorially stylish celebrities,” gleefully reports the Daily Mail, “but [it] is Miss Moss, 36, who has clearly emerged as the most important.”

The actual members of the top ten best dressed list have each been given their own title, and are not ranked in any sort of order:

The Bombshell: Blake Lively
Screen Siren: Marion Cotillard
The Independent: Michelle Obama
American Beauty: Jessica Biel
Street Cool: Alexa Chung
Haute Bohemian: Sarah Jessica Parker
Conscious Chic: Liya Kebede
Free Spirit: Carey Mulligan
New Classicist: Shala Monroque
The Visionary: Lady Gaga
