Matthew Williamson Is Launching a Bridal Collection

Of all people to commit to a white palette, Matthew Williamson just announced that he’ll be launching bridalwear next year. The British designer’s colorful collections always include at least one bright pink dress as a rule, and you’d be hard-pressed to find even a single white garment he’s shown in the past decade; therefore, it’ll be interesting to see his take on wedding dresses. Of course, a bride’s outfit is about much more than just color (or the absence thereof), Williamson explained to Elle UK.

I wanted to create a bridal collection that is both a natural extension of the mainline eveningwear, but at the same time reflects the opulence of such an important celebratory event. The pieces are characterised by feminine, diaphanous silhouettes in richly embellished luxurious fabrics.

Unfortunately for most brides, the dresses will probably fall in the same price range as his eveningwear, which is to say, prohibitively expensive. Oh well, you can always look forward to his new diffusion line, which will cost only in the low four digits when it hits stores next fall.
