Giorgio Armani has tapped tennis player Rafael Nadal to replace Cristiano Ronaldo as the new set of abs fronting the Emporio Armani underwear and Armani jeans campaigns. This is the first time that the label has tapped a tennis player for the job; prior to Ronaldo, David Beckham graced the ads.
There currently aren’t a whole lot of shirtless pictures of Nadal floating around the Internet, since tennis, unlike soccer, has stuffy rules about staying clothed, but there are enough to deduce that Armani’s choice was not a bad one. Shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggot, the black-and-white images will hit giant billboards everywhere in February, just in time to remind men about their New Year’s resolution to work out more often.
