Whereas Kate and William swept into a room packed with photographers in their finest (but not too fine) cocktail attire, his cousin Zara Phillips and her fiancé, Mike Tindall, presented their newly engaged selves to the world outside in the snow in Gloucester. Maybe Kate and Her People are taking up all the room in the royal facilities, so this is what they were left with. Or maybe this is Zara’s way of saying, “I might be twelfth in line for the throne, but I’m a real person who gets engaged with a diamond not previously owned by the world’s most beloved princess in modern times.”
