Now seven months pregnant with a boy (!!!), Rachel Zoe won’t be in town for New York Fashion Week. She recently made her last trip to New York (or anywhere else) for some time to show her fashion line to WWD and style a shoot for the paper. The clothes, made in partnership with Li & Fung, are positioned in the contemporary market, ranging in price from $250 for a day dress to $700 for a full suit. These are not your wear-once-and-throw-away celebrity-“designed” cork and pleather platforms. And these will probably not be followed by a line of temporary tattoos or fake tongue rings. Zoe’s clothes are positioned in the same category inhabited by Alexander Wang and Diane Von Furstenberg, and it’s next to those designers that they will ideally hang on sales floors. Li & Fung’s chief strategy officer explains, “We felt that [contemporary] is her audience. She’s already done something affordable for QVC.”
