Slideshow: Even the French Love a Rustic Hipster

In the universe of trade shows, (capsule) is — despite its unreasonably punctuated name — a serious showcase for emerging labels, streetwear, and indie brands. At the Paris exhibition, which closed last week, many fall 2011 trends were present, but one dominated, at least for American designers: the rustic hipster (also known here as the urban woodsman). It’s still going strong, though it’s evolving away from the aggressively scruffy “I eat wood chips for breakfast” to a trimmer, more refined look (but still with facial hair). We’ve got photos from New York–based designers — Billy Reid, Gitman Vintage, Taylor Supply, and more — showing their latest lines. Click through to see the latest.
