Constance White Is the New Editor-in-Chief of Essence

Time Inc. announced today that Constance White has been named editor-in-chief of Essence magazine. She succeeds Angela Burt-Murray, who left the magazine in November as result of her family’s relocation to Atlanta. White was formerly the style director of eBay and has also worked at Talk magazine, the New York Times, and Elle. In related news: Marcia Ann Gillespie, who was the editor-in-chief of the magazine from 1971 to 1980, has rejoined the staff as special project director. [Daily Front Row]
