Daphne Guinness Will Not Get Naked When She Dresses for the Met Ball in the Barneys Windows

The best thing about the royal wedding being over, aside from it being over, will be that we can finally refocus our energies and attention where it is probably more deserved: Monday’s Met Ball! The Oscars of the East Coast, as the event is known, will open the Costume Institute’s new Alexander McQueen exhibit at the Met Museum, which is going to be utterly amazing. Also, in honor of McQueen and the evening, Daphne Guinness will ready herself for the gala in the windows of Barneys, where some of her incredible clothing collection will be on display. Cathy Horyn reports for the Times:

“I am not doing a burlesque — no way,” she said from Paris, where she was filming a movie. “I’m going to be getting dressed behind something. I’m not Dita Von Teese, nor shall I be.”

Initially, Dennis Freedman, the store’s creative director, proposed displaying some of her clothes, with cards noting where each thing was worn. “Like a social diary,” he said. “Then Daphne said, ‘Why don’t I get dressed in your window?’ I thought, ‘Oh, my God, of course.’ ”
